The Boulevard Senior Living – Wentzville Celebrates the Federal Holiday of Juneteenth

Arrow prides itself in always striving for the common goal of diversity, equity, and inclusion. 

At The Boulevard Wentzville, we stand firmly in the belief that, regardless of individual differences, we all deserve to thrive in a space that values the work we do and the worth of everyone. Our goal is to create a culture that employees can rely on to be equitable and fair. So, to honor that goal, during the week leading up to June 19, 2023, we will be celebrating the Federal Holiday of Juneteenth with our employees and residents. 

Juneteenth marks the day when federal troops arrive in Galveston, Texas, the last corner of the United States, to ensure all enslaved people be freed. Today, Juneteenth honors the end of slavery in the United States.

To celebrate, in the morning we will share the history of Juneteenth with our residents. In the afternoon we will show a documentary, Juneteenth 1865-2022: The Pursuit of Economic Equality, which highlights the lasting financial impact on Black Americans and the challenges they face. In the evening we will host a “Freedom Day Celebration Dinner.” Both residents and team members are invited to the meal that will feature southern fried okra, crispy chicken and waffles, hearty red beans and rice, sliced juicy watermelon, and luscious red velvet cake for dessert.
