National Assisted Living Week is a special time when assisted living communities come alive with celebrations that bring residents together. It’s a chance to share stories, make memories, and enjoy events that show the strong bond among residents, caregivers, and families. This year, the theme is Season of Reflection. It is important because it provides an opportunity to celebrate and recognize the contributions, achievements, and experiences of older adults who reside in assisted living communities. The week also promotes engagement, socialization, and meaningful connections among our residents, staff, families, and the wider community.
At The Boulevard Senior Living – Wentzville, we are honoring residents’ lives and experiences by having a week planned for residents, with events that will take us through the decades. We are turning up the nostalgia and reflecting on the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s. We are kicking off National Assisted Living Week with a Grandparent’s Day Brunch and a Blast from the Past event featuring resident photos from years past. We will host a Casablanca Tea Party, Sock Hop, School Day photo shoot, funky exercise class, Tie-Dye Happy Hour, and conclude with a Michael Jackson pizza luncheon.
As the Resident Services Director, I am most excited about hosting this array of events and fun, for both residents and staff, that defined our residents’ generations.
Taking the time to celebrate National Assisted Living Week is important. For me, Season of Reflection is a time of self-assessment, looking back on achievements, lessons learned, and personal growth on my journey through life. It’s a time to gain wisdom, find meaning, and reflect on how I can improve the quality of life for those I serve.
It’s not only a time to celebrate, but also an opportunity to appreciate the staff and volunteers who make assisted living communities what they are today! This week highlights the power of connections, memories, and the spirit of togetherness that makes every resident feel at home.
Join us as we dive into the Season of Reflection with heartwarming stories, exciting events, and the wonderful sense of community that make National Assisted Living Week a truly special occasion. You can follow along throughout the week on our Facebook page or contact the community for a listing of the week’s special events.
