As spring arrives, our team turns its attention to one of the most visible parts of our community: landscaping. Beautiful grounds do not happen by chance. They come from thoughtful planning, seasonal preparation, and steady attention to detail.
After winter, I take a proactive approach to refreshing our outdoor spaces. My goal is to keep them visually appealing, safe, and enjoyable for residents. As the Plant Operations Director at The Boulevard Senior Living of Wentzville, I focus on the steps that help our community look its best each spring.

For the spring refresh, my team evaluates the community’s needs. Then, we create a prioritized action plan for key maintenance and operational areas.
One of our top priorities this season was cleaning and organizing the dumpster enclosures. Trash, wood pallets, and other debris had accumulated and needed immediate attention. We dedicated our spring-cleaning day to this project because it affects more than appearance. It also helps maintain health and safety standards throughout the community.
Other department leaders also joined the seasonal cleaning efforts. Their projects included deep cleaning the community bus and country kitchens.
One simple but effective system I use is taking a second look at completed work. I also encourage additional team members to provide another set of eyes. This approach helps ensure nothing gets overlooked. It also supports consistent quality throughout the community.
A common challenge during spring startup is having insufficient supplies. This can lead to borrowing materials from other departments or making last-minute trips to the store.
To improve the process next season, I plan to organize and stock necessary supplies in advance. This will help ensure every team has the materials they need readily available.
It is easy to see the finished product, but real success comes from teamwork. Coordination, accountability, and pride help bring each project together. These efforts ensure The Boulevard Senior Living of Wentzville continues to meet the standards residents expect while setting the tone for the months ahead.
