The Boulevard Senior Living – Wentzville Invites You to Celebrate National Good Neighbor Month in Their Neighborhood

Category: Memory Care

Author: Sanela McKinney, Memory Care Director

September is “National Good Neighbor Month,” and in the spirit of this special time, we would like to take the opportunity to share about a unique part of our senior living community – our Memory Care Neighborhood.

Here at The Boulevard Senior Living – Wentzville we strive to make our Neighborhood a special place, not just for our residents, but for everyone who comes to visit and join in our daily festivities. We celebrate being good neighbors every day.

We call our Memory Care communities Neighborhoods because we provide their individuality, security, and a more home-like environment. Our memory care is special because it is centered around everyone, their preferences, and their needs. Our team works so hard to make sure that all needs are provided daily.

Having your loved one in the community where you can have full trust and great communication with the team is challenging for many families. We work to provide the best support and education to the families, and invite them to participate in planning, socializing, and volunteering with daily activities in our neighborhood.

Being a good neighbor means we need to show and create a safe and supportive environment. Since September is Alzheimer’s month, one great way to show support is to wear purple, especially on September 21, which is Alzheimer’s Action Day. This is “a day on which Alzheimer’s organizations around the world concentrate their efforts on raising awareness about Alzheimer’s and dementia.” The day was launched by Alzheimer’s Disease International in 1994.

We encourage everyone to be a “good neighbor” and find ways to engage and make a difference in the lives of individuals living with dementia. You don’t need to have a special talent, just a heart for others around you. If you would like more information about volunteering in a Memory Care Neighborhood near you or if you are caring for someone with Alzheimer’s or dementia, we would love to help!
